Zachary M. Swisher

Zachary M. Swisher has a general litigation and appellate practice, representing individuals and businesses in a variety of disputes. Additionally, he has a vigorous criminal defense practice, which involves corporate investigations, white-collar defense, and tax controversies. He has extensive experience as a trial lawyer in civil and criminal matters in state and federal court.

Before joining Axelrod Laliberte, Zach was legal counsel to Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. He managed all internal state criminal and administrative investigations, as well as all capital punishment and clemency related matters.

In addition to his service with the Office of the Governor, Zach's career includes: enforcement attorney for the Ohio Division of Securities where he conducted criminal, administrative and licensing investigations; Chief Counsel to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, where he litigated federal civil rights and employment matters, including workers compensation claims, and managed all administrative processes for the various licensees over which the Ohio Department of Public Safety has jurisdiction, and; Assistant Chief Deputy of the Ohio Attorney General's Criminal Division, where he oversaw mortgage and health care fraud task force investigations.

Zach's extensive trial experience also includes his service as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney specializing in gang and narcotics cases, as well as a Special Assistant United Sates Attorney.

Zach is a 2003 graduate of the Capital University Law School, and a 1999 graduate of Xavier University where he played varsity baseball and was first team all-Atlantic Ten. He is active in the community and a member of Charity Newsies.
